How Do I Title This?

OK - so I looked and saw the date of my last blog as being June 8th. And today is July 17th. Wow, can I say I've just been too busy, or that there was this or that, that kept me from blogging.....running.....eating right.....sleeping......??? Nope. Most people would die for the summer schedule I have. I go to a few meeting here and there, write a little, play with the kids, watch a lot of t.v., kill TONS of time on the computer, etc. etc. I've done a few projects on the house so there has been some productivity to speak of, but running......nope - I've been running like twice a week maybe, and they are lame uninspired runs. My weight has gone completely bananas as all discipline has just been shrugged off. We went up north for two weeks to my parents' place on a really nice lake. You think it would be an idyllic setting for a nice early morning run. Nope. When you stay up late and don't wake up 'til 9 or 10 in the morning, the motivation to get out and be active is just not there. I'm laying all this out here because my man Jon, who was in MI but now is in NY has been writing some really honest stuff recently. He hasn't been sugarcoating it and it made my kind of want to do the same.

The thing is, I downshifted when the semester ended, BACK IN MAY, and never quite shifted up a gear since. In fact, I've been annoyed when tiny moments of work creeped into my day(s) - having to respond to an e-mail or a phone call, you know, real laborious stuff like that!!!!!!

Some good news to report - I got a phone call from the other "Fool" yesterday and he and his wife are now expecting their 2nd child. Congratulations guys!!! Also, Jeff ran a 10k a couple of weekends ago and as I understand it is training hard for the CRIM in August. I hope I can get my ass on track for that too!

Good to see you back and posting! Hope that your running schedule gets back on track, but make sure you leave time to enjoy your time with Karen and the kids. Loved the photos BTW! :)

I so hear you! When I took last summer off, walking to the mailbox was sometimes the hardest work of the day - and that didn't always get done. Are there any running clubs nearby that you can hook up with to help get you out the door?

Good stuff, Ed. Its a terrible thing to slip back down that slope, but it makes the climb easier knowing you're doing it too. I wish I could come out for the CRIM. Never did get to run it.

Chrissy - no sweat - they are always #1. Ask them, they'll verify for me :)

Jon and Lara - thanks so much for the support - it helps me stay connected to other runners. There's a local running group (actually several) but have seemed super competitive when I originally checked them out. I should take another look - I'm sure there are beginners (or whatever you call a 'fallen' runner) in there as well. We're heading to NY on Saturday and will be there for 2 weeks - wonder if there are any 5ks where our paths might cross???
